We are seeking a capable and experienced Stock Hand to join our team. This is a diverse role managing a mix of R1 and R2 dairy replacements and beef cattle across our owned and leased land.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive "all-rounder" who takes pride in animal welfare and infrastructure maintenance, with the flexibility to assist in our contracting business during peak periods if they would like that opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the daily health, welfare and feeding requirements of R1/R2 dairy replacements and beef cattle.
* Assist with drenching and weighing operations as required.
* Assist with calf rearing if required.
* Assist with mating programme. A practical understanding of AI would be an advantage.
* Skills in fencing and stock water maintenance would also be an advantage.
* Opportunity for tractor/truck driving work within our contracting business during busy seasonal periods.
Skills Required
* A solid background in cattle management and/or calf rearing.
* Fencing/Water Infrastructure maintenance skills
* Ability to work independantly, manage your time efficiently and solve problems on the go.
* Confident operating tractors & farm machinery - a clean drivers licence is required - minimum class 1.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work within a team.
The job is generally approx 3-4 hours per day - Monday to Saturday but can be negotiable for the right applicant.
