We’re currently seeking an experienced Herd Manager to join our Plantation Dairy team in Ongaonga, Central Hawke’s Bay. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity within a supportive and collaborative team.
We have 1800 cows at peak, a 60 bale rotary, twice a year calving ('Spring': July-Oct/Nov and 'Autumn': January-April) and all-year milking on a 6:2 roster. We are busy! And to help us get things done we have a great team of 12+ people onsite as well as support from the wider Apatu Farms team.
About the role:
Reporting to the Farm Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the farm, contributing to animal health, productivity, and overall farm performance. Working as part of a wider team, your responsibilities will include:
Herd and stock management
Milking operations
General farm repairs and maintenance
Weed control and property upkeep
Your practical approach and attention to detail will help ensure the farm continues to operate efficiently and to a high standard.
