2IC (Second in Charge) – Awamoko Dairy

Location: North Otago (Oamaru region)

Position: Full-time, with a clear pathway to Farm Management

Technology: Fully integrated Halter system

 

About the Role

Awamoko Dairy is seeking a driven, tech-forward 2IC who wants to learn the ropes of farm management while working with the best ag-tech in the business.

We run a progressive operation powered by Halter collar technology. This means no traditional break fencing, no chasing cows, and data-driven farming at your fingertips. For the right candidate, a possibility to progress into full management.

 

Key Responsibilities

Halter Operations: Run the daily virtual breaks, track herd movements, and monitor cow health and heat data via the Halter app.

Milking & Shed Hygiene: Maintain high standards in the shed, focusing on milk quality and efficient herd flow.

Management Back-up: Step up and run the day-to-day farm operations when the Farm Manager is off-farm, gaining valuable leadership experience.

Pasture & Animal Health: Assist with feed budgeting and maintaining top-tier animal welfare standards.

 

What We Are Looking For

A strong work ethic and the desire to step up into leadership.

A tech-savvy mindset to make farming smarter.

Communication: Must speak and understand fluent English to ensure seamless communication with the manager, team, and rural professionals. 

A team-player attitude.

Full New Zealand driver’s license.
