Herd Manager – Dairy Farm (440 Cows)
Salary: $82,000–$84,000 per annum

We are a family-run dairy farm seeking a motivated and capable Herd Manager to join our team. You’ll play a key role in the day-to-day management of our 440-cow herd, milked through a 38-aside herringbone shed, and support the smooth running of our 152 ha flat-to-rolling property.

What We Offer

• Roster: 8 days on / 3 days off, followed by 8 days on / 2 days off

• Hours: Guaranteed minimum 30 hours, averaging around 48 hours per week

• Salary: $82,000–$84,000 depending on experience

Role Responsibilities

• Overseeing daily herd health, behaviour, and production

• Milking 440 cows through a 38-aside herringbone shed with ACRs

• Managing and monitoring animal health treatments, calving, and feeding

• Confidently operating tractors and feeding wagons for daily feed-out

• Assisting with pasture management, fencing, effluent systems, and general farm maintenance

• Maintaining high standards of animal welfare, hygiene, and workplace safety

• Working collaboratively with the farm owners and supporting junior staff when required

About You

• Minimum 12 months’ dairy farm experience (herd or stock responsibility preferred)with 2 full calving seasons.

• Must be confident operating a tractor and feed wagon

• Strong attention to animal health and welfare

• Positive attitude, solid work ethic, and willingness to grow in the role

• Able to work rostered hours and communicate well within a team

• Reliable, honest, and committed to maintaining a safe, well-run operation
