Are you passionate about dairy farming and ready to contribute to a thriving grass-based operation?
PB11 Farms Limited is seeking a dedicated 2 Farm Assistant to join our team at Kakaho Dairy Farm,
located just 15 minutes from Whakamaru and 35 minutes from Taupō. Our 404-hectare rolling-to-flat
farm runs as a System 2 operation with a peak herd of 1200 cows. We milk 50% once-a-day (OAD) and
50% twice-a-day (TAD) from the start, switching fully to OAD by the end of December.


About the Role


As a Farm Assistant, you'll play a key part in our day-to-day operations, working with minimal
supervision alongside our team of 5 staff members. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out milk harvesting tasks safely, efficiently, and correctly, while assisting with milk quality issues and maintaining dairy hygiene.
  • Moving and handling animals safely, identifying and diagnosing health issues, assisting with
    treatments, and preventing future problems.
  • Handling, moving, and rearing calves.
  • Recognizing cows on heat, drafting and marking them during mating season, and working safely
    with bulls.
  • Observing, identifying, and managing pasture/crop weeds, or reporting them to the farm manager.
  • Understanding the on-farm feed policy and setting correct break sizes as instructed.
  • Identifying fence faults, performing straightforward repairs, and ensuring fence power.
  • Managing nutrients, effluent, and water efficiently, including operating the dairy effluent system
    and understanding its environmental impact.
  • Shifting effluent pods, feeding calves, grubbing/spraying weeds, shifting fences, and other
    general farm tasks.
  • Treating all company property with respect.

You'll look for ways to work more effectively, improve the business, and complete tasks alongside other staff.

The ideal candidate is a team player with a positive attitude, physically fit, and able to live and
contribute to our farm community. You must hold a full driving license. Any qualifications or experience
in dairy farming is a bonus!

We maintain a strict NO DRUGS or SMOKING policy on the farm and at the house. Drug and alcohol
tests are required prior to employment and may be conducted randomly throughout the season.


You should understand your rights around employment agreements, minimum wage, leave,
accommodation, and how to communicate issues to the manager. We're committed to maintaining good health on the farm and adhering to health and safety requirements.


What We Offer

  • Permanent Full-Time Position starting 01/06/2026.
  • Guaranteed 30-50 hours per week on a single rotation roster: 12 days on / 2 days off.
  • Competitive Pay: $26.00 per hour.
  • Accommodation: 2-bedroom shared unit suitable for 2 single person or a couple. (no pets
    allowed).
