Job Description
We are looking for a Farm Assistant to work on 143 hectares farm, milking 440 crossbreed cows under a System 2-3. This is a unique and efficient shed, milking the girls through a 36aside herringbone with ACR and auto teat spraying supported by a barn that holds 250 cows.
We are looking for;
-Someone that has a keen eye for feeding cows and looking after them as their own.
-1+ year full time dairy farming experience and currently working in a dairy farm
-A self-motivated person that is keen to learn, not afraid to ask questions and bring new ideas.
-Organisation is a must, knowing how to prioritise is key in this farming operation as you will step up and take the reins in the farmers absence.
-Tractor experience would be a great advantage, but they are always keen to teach
-You must be physically fit
-clean criminal records, and drug check to be considered before for the role starts.
-The farm has plenty of maintenance and capital development projects on the go to grow your skills.
As a Farm Assistant , you are expected to work alongside the Share Milker and other staff to perform the following duties:
-Ensuring the effective operation of all aspects of the milking process, including plant hygiene and somatic cell count to maintain grade free standard
_Maintaining the cleanliness of the shed
-Responsible for assisting the SM to implement best practice management of pasture ,crop and supplement
-Responsible for developing and maintaining an understanding of regulations and requirements for the management of nutrients, effluent and water supply
-Responsible for safety using and maintaining of farm machineries, equipment and buildings
-Responsible for all health records of the animals and farm plant records and following the health and safety rules guidelines
-Assist with calving and calf rearing program to achieve minimal losses and ensure high quality replacements for the herd.
-undertake other duties as required
-Must have a full drivers license
-No pets are allowed in the accomodation
-Smoking are not allowed at home or at work
-Monthly house check are required
-Shared accomodation will be provided
