Our stunning family owned and operated 400 cow dairy farm is set on 200 Ha of beautiful flat land just minutes from the township of Ikamatua. This is a great place to live if you love all the outdoor activities the area has to offer, yet only 40 mins from Greymouth and 20 mins to Reefton, you literally have everything you need right on your doorstep.
We thought we had next season worked out with regards to our staffing requirements but due to personal reason, the person we had employed has decided its not for them after all, so this leaves us with a bit of a gap to fill.
In an ideal world we could really do with a good strong manager who has a partner that can be a dairy farm assistant who can help us with relief milking and calf rearing. We have a big 3.5 bedroom house which has a lovely new bathroom and kitchen.
Essential skills will be milking, we have a rotary shed that we are just in the process of updating so it will have automatic cup removers and auto teat spray by the time you arrive, pasture management, animal health is a big one for us, you must be able to mentor and support our younger staff member so a good 2 to 3 years as a 2IC who is ready to step up would be ideal. We’re not really big into titles, we all tend to pitch in and help each other, and we do like bouncing ideas around, we are always open to looking at new ways of doing things if it’s going to make us more efficient.
The farm is very well maintained, and we offer a health and safety conscious workplace, we have a strict no drugs policy, so a pre-employment drug test may be required and no criminal records either, we want to keep our people safe and happy and offer a good work life balance. We guarantee a minimum of 30 hours a week for the herd manager role, and we are willing to pay a base of $80k plus accommodation.
