We are small family owned and operated dairy farm with 450 jersey cows looking for our next permanent full-time Farm Assistant. This is due to our current employee relocating towns due to her partners job promotion. Our farm is located in the Canterbury foothills in Mount Somers which is 20 minutes from Methven and 30 minutes to Ashburton and we milk twice daily through a 40 aside herringbone cowshed with grain feeders, auto cup removers and auto teat spray.
You will work as part of team to complete daily jobs of milking (twice daily), moving stock, setting up paddocks, tractor work, spraying, moving k-lines for effluent as well as general maintenance and cleaning. During this time of year we are moving stock on winter crops at the run off and doing maintenance jobs.
We would prefer someone with at least one year experience
We run a 11 days on and 3 days off roster so you generally get second Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. During calving this could change if desired.
Accommodation is available in the township which is a 2 minute drive from the farm.
We require you to be drug free and be able to pass random tests and a criminal checks.
