We have a position available for an experienced Farm Equipment Technician on a dairy farm in South Taranaki and potentially other farms in the same region.
This is a permanent, full-time role on a dairy farming operation running approximately 1100 cows through a rotary milking system. The successful applicant will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, fault diagnosis and repair of farm machinery, equipment and mechanical systems to ensure the efficient operation of the farming business. The role also includes the operation of agricultural machinery and assisting with general farm duties when required.
Your range of duties will include:
Diagnosing mechanical faults in farm machinery, equipment and farm infrastructure,
Carrying out preventative maintenance, servicing and repairs on tractors, agricultural machinery, farm vehicles and associated equipment,
Inspecting machinery and equipment to identify wear, damage and operational issues,
Replacing and repairing mechanical components, hydraulic systems, bearings, belts, hoses and related parts,
Assisting with the maintenance and repair of feeding equipment and milking-related machinery,
Maintaining farm tools, workshop equipment and spare parts inventory,
Operating agricultural machinery including tractors and other farm equipment for feeding, mowing, baling, silage preparation and general farm operations,
Safely transporting materials, feed and equipment around the farm,
Monitoring machinery performance and reporting breakdown risks before failures occur,
Assisting with livestock handling and routine dairy farming duties when required,
and following all workplace health and safety requirements and maintaining a safe working environment.
Equipment operated and maintained on this farm includes tractors and tractor-mounted implements, rotary milking plant and associated dairy shed machinery, effluent pumps and reticulation systems, irrigation equipment, silage and baling equipment, feed wagons and feeding systems, farm vehicles and ATVs, electric fencing systems, water pumps and reticulation, and workshop tools and equipment.
Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 40 hours.
Wage is $30.00 per hour.
Roster is 6 days in 2 days off

To be considered you must:
1 Have a minimum of three years of relevant work experience in the maintenance, servicing, repair or operation of agricultural, mechanical, industrial or heavy equipment,
2 Hold a current driver's licence,
3 be physically fit and capable of performing manual work in an outdoor farming environment,
4 provide a current, complete and accurate CV stating nz citizenship/residency or visa status
