Dairy farm assistant/ herd manager

Job Description

We are looking for a reliable, motivated team member with a positive attitude to join our team.

This position is available to start immediately or by arrangement for the right applicant.

The successful applicant will have

  • Previous farming experience
  • Sole charge milking experience
  • Tractor experience
  • good stockmanship and animal husbandry skills
  • a quiet and patient approach to handling stock
  • the ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • good communication skills and a strong work ethic
  • A willingness to learn and take responsibility

We milk 1100 peak crossbred cows through a 54-bale rotary equipped with ACRs, auto teat spray, auto yard wash, Alflex collars. and an auto drafting gate. The farm is predominantly autumn calving and features 2 pivot irrigators, a pod based effluent system, and a mix of flat peat and rolling sandhill contour.
