We have an exciting opportunity available for a Farm Assistant for the coming season. We are a contract milking business looking for a motivated and reliable individual who is keen to learn, grow, and build a career in the dairy industry. This role suits someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well within a friendly team environment.
Our farm milks 825 mixbred cows through a 50-bale herringbone shed and features excellent infrastructure and well-maintained facilities. We place a strong emphasis on animal welfare, milk quality, and maintaining high health and safety standards. Regular drug testing is carried out, and all farm policies must be followed.
In this role, you will assist with efficient and hygienic milking routines while following procedures to ensure high-quality milk production. You will also help clean and maintain the milking plant and farm dairy equipment, reporting any faults to senior staff. The position involves assisting with the safe handling of animals and reporting any health or welfare concerns in line with farm policy. You will be responsible for setting break fences, feeding out as directed, and supporting environmental practices such as effluent, nutrient, and water management. Weed control, including spot spraying, will also form part of your duties.
You will work closely with the team to build a strong and positive work culture while safely operating and maintaining farm vehicles and machinery in accordance with farm policies. The role also requires active participation in maintaining a safe workplace by following all health, safety, and wellbeing procedures.
We are looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn. The ability to ride a motorbike and quad bike is required, while basic tractor skills would be an advantage. Good communication and teamwork skills are important for this role.
No experience is required, as full training will be provided, although previous dairy farming experience would be beneficial. Shared on-farm accommodation is provided, offering a comfortable living environment with other team members .No smoking allowed at workplace or inside the house and no pets.
