Job Description

The Role

We are looking for a strong Farm Assistant to join our team based in Dunsandel which is an excellent location close to Christchurch. You will be assisting with leading a team and milking 850 cows. This will be on a rotating roster of 6 days on and 2 days off. 

You will be a team player, have strong pasture management knowledge and a genuine desire to achieve the farms goals.

The main responsibilities of this role include…

  • Animal Care – feeding, milking, health checks, seasonal tasks (calving, mating).

  • Farm Operations – moving stock, fencing, irrigation, operating machinery.

  • Maintenance – repairs to fences, water systems, vehicles, and sheds.

  • Compliance & Environment – follow health & safety, effluent, and biosecurity rules.

  • General Support – assist manager, support contractors, tidy and prepare work areas.

Skills and Experience 

To be considered for this role will require … 

  • At least 2 years experience working full time in any industry but Agricultural work experience preferred
  • Displays a positive, ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Has an affinity for animals.
