Dairy Farm Assistant – Riverton Pastures Limited

Riverton Pastures Limited is seeking a motivated, reliable, and positive Dairy Farm Assistant to join our team on a well-established dairy farm in Temuka, South Canterbury.

This is a full-time fixed-term role through to the end of the season, with strong potential for ongoing employment for the right person. You’ll gain valuable experience in a high-performing farming environment and continue to develop your skills.

About the Farm

• 340ha milking platform, 1,200 cows
• Modern 60-bale rotary shed with ACR, Protrack, and in-shed feeding
• Ideally located between Timaru, Temuka, and Pleasant Point

The Role

You’ll work as part of a team across all aspects of the farm operation, gaining experience in:

• Milking and shed operations
• Animal health
• Feeding and pasture management
• Irrigation

Key Responsibilities

• Milking and assisting with maintaining high milk quality standards
• Shed hygiene and daily operations
• Assisting with animal health and treatments
• Calving and young stock care
• Irrigation setup and operation
• General farm duties including fencing, weed control, and maintenance
• Operating farm bikes and machinery (training provided where needed)

About You

• Previous dairy farming experience preferred (training provided for the right person)
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Reliable and able to work as part of a team
• Physically fit
• Good communication and takes pride in your work
• Some experience with motorbikes and machinery preferred
• Holds a current NZ driver’s licence (or working towards)
• Able to provide references
• Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
