Are you ready to step into your next role? This position involves working towards supporting the Contract milker in achieving the farm’s production and profit goals through assisting with the day-to-day operation of the farm.
The successful applicant will be involved in all aspects of the farm and will require the following skills/attributes:
Driven to learn the day-day responsibilities of dairy farming. Honest, hardworking, trusted and reliable team player. Good animal husbandry skills. Milking and maintaining high hygiene standards. Setting break fences and moving stock. Weed control. General repairs and maintenance of fencing and water systems. Tractor operation and feeding out. Calving and mating (We do not rear the calves). Relevant record keeping. Hazard identification and Health and Safety. K-Line & Pivot Irrigation experience. Some understanding of pasture management.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
Good Communication skills. Reliable, motivated, and eager to learn. Ability to work independently. Can work weekends and early mornings. A genuine care for animal health and welfare. Able to legally work in New Zealand - we are not accredited employers(yet). Maintains a clean and tidy home and work environment. Has a clean criminal record and can pass a pre‑employment drug test. Holds a full driver’s license. CV and references required.
