Full time Relief Milker

Theland Farm Group are looking for a genuinely motivated and committed Relief Milkers to join our on-farm team at K Road. This is a Seasonal / Fixed term role.

About the role:

K Road farm is located on the stunning shores of Lake Taupo’s western bays, approx. 1 hour from Taupo

Milking 1250 cows, it runs a low input, fully self-contained system with a focus on pasture and plantain. This farm is well set up with a 72 Bale drop rail Herringbone milking shed, an experienced farm manager and a friendly team.

Applicants must:

1) Be physically fit - this is a demanding job

2) Be able to provide an updated CV.

3) Be able to provide verifiable references of previous employment history.

4) Pass a 3-month hair follicle drug test, alcohol, and police check. 

You will be required to join the milking team so staff can take Annual Leave, Parental leave and Regular Rostered Days off. 

Job Description:

Milking Duties - competently ensure the effective operation of all aspects of the milking process, including plant hygiene and somatic cell count, to maintain grade free standards.

Farm Maintenance - assist with general farm maintenance and repairs, contributing to the overall upkeep of the dairy farm

Animal Care - Monitor the health and wellbeing of the cows, reporting any abnormalities or issue to the farm manager

Equipment Management - ensure that milking equipment is clean and functioning properly, adhering to safety and hygiene standards

General Support - provide support for various farm tasks as required, which may include feeding, moving stock and other day to day operations. 

Health & Safety – Actively take part in all aspects of Theland Tahi Farm Group Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Skills and Experience:

At least 1 season of relevant dairy farming experience or level 2 Primary Industry certificate 

Proven communication skills and ability to work in a team.

Drivers Licence

What you will get from us:

• Guaranteed minimum hours of 35 per week (70-hour fortnight)
• Hourly rate $28.50 - $31.00 per hour including accommodation allowance
