Its that time of year again that we are seeking a fit and able calf rearing superstar to support ourselves on our calf rearing property located 5 minutes west of Burnham, less than 10 minutes from Rolleston. This year we will be contract rearing 600 dairy beef calves from 1 week old to 110 kg.
No experience is required as full training will be provided.
Tasks will involve but are not limited to:
-Mixing calf milk replacer
-Feeding calves in the purpose-built calf sheds and then when calves are older out in Paddocks with a tow behind feeder.
-Administering basic animal health
-Disinfecting calf sheds/bedding
-Washing and disinfecting calf feeding equipment
-Topping up straw & meal
- Assisting with weighing & animal health yarding's as the calves get older.
The right person needs to have a love for animals, be patient and calm. You must be able to lift at least 25kg as this is the weight of the meal bags.
This is a drive in position. It will be roughly 20-25 hours per week for 12 to 14 weeks starting the first week of August. Monday to Friday- during school hours. Once trained 2 days per week you will be on your own or with a casual, 3 days with us.
