2IC/Dairy Farm Assistant

Job Description

We are looking for someone  to work on our farm.Experience would be good but are also open to someone wanting a career change has good commen scenes and is keen to learn. Accommodation is handy to cowshed, could suit couple as there would be work available for partner. We are not much into titles (eg 2IC , herd manager etc) and like to think we work as a team to get the job done. However this role would involve being able to run the farm in the absence of the farm owner, and other experienced staff members. It is owner operator farm, with 500 cows, a 38 aside Herringbone with Protrack drafting and a wintering barn. The owner is actively involved and available on farm on a daily basis. There are two full time staff as well as this position. There is also a run off to develop, and young stock work to do too. We also make sure everyone always gets their time off. We run an 8 day on 2 day off roster. Pays are done through Paysauce and all holidays and public holidays are properly paid and kept track of. We are looking for someone experienced who is capable and careful in a tractor, especially in the confined spaces of the wintering barn. They also need to be able to shift the irrigator, and do all general farm duties. You must like cows and dairy farming, have a current drivers license, and be eligible to work in NZ. The farm is 10 min from Winton and 30 min from Invercargill at Northope. References will be asked for and checked.
