A position is coming available for an experienced enthusiastic and motivated Herd Manager to work on our 1650 cow farm near Rolleston, Canterbury. We operate a 54-bale rotary, 46-bale rotary and a 36-aside Herring bone shed all with ACR's and Protrack automation. We also have Halter technology installed and operating. The role includes all general farm duties from milking, feeding of stock, R & M work on the farm, weed control, moving Roto-Rainer irrigation and centre pivots. We are looking for someone with a can-do attitude, can be a team player, honest, reliable, excellent communication skills, hold a current driving license and have a high attention to detail. Applicants must be able to ride 2- and 4-wheel motorbikes and have tractor experience with feeding and operating loaders is essential. Being technologically literate would also be an advantage given the on-farm technology. Training will be given in areas which are required. This farm is part of a large operation with 3 dairy farms side-by-side and another farm 15 minutes away. We are a fully irrigated, self-contained operation with support blocks close by. We have a strong focus on animal welfare, efficient milk production, industry leading environmental practices and on-farm technology. This is a unique opportunity to work on a halter farm and experience the future of dairy farming firsthand. Guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week to a maximum of 50 hours per week. Applicants must have a minimum of 4 full years dairy farm experience.
