A family-owned dairy farm business located in the central Manawatu coastal region. We milk 300 Kiwi-cross cows twice a day at 520ms a cow. Our farm is 120 hectares of sandy loam, a predominantly flat contour with several sandhills running through the property.
We are a spring-calving System 4 farm, utilizing a feedpad through the winter months with grass and maize silage. The farm features a 36-bale rotary cowshed, equipped with meal feeding, automatic cup removers, auto teat spray, Allflex automatic drafting, and an automated backing gate yard wash system. This allows us to run a one-man milking shed outside of the calving period and eases the workload through mating.
We are also equipped with extensive effluent reticulation and a 5 million litre pond. Turnip crops are grown through the Spring and grazed through the summer. The farm has good stock water reticulation and troughs. Fences and races are well maintained. We also recently installed a new calf rearing facility with a Holm&Laue automatic calf feeding system.
