Small family farm with flexibility to the right person. Located along the bottom of the Kaimai Ranges close to Kaimai Ranges and Thompsons Track. We are looking for an honest, reliable, motivate person to fill this job. Currently milking 160 Jersey & Jersey x cows through an old, small 12 aside shed that is being replaced at the end of this season. We milk twice AD through to the end of the season - April.
Looking for an individual with excellent time management, punctuality, can follow instructions and has great communication skills. Someone who takes pride in personal and farm appearance.
Jobs include:
Animal health - identify lame cows and take action, animal well-being, record/notify owner of concerns
Milk Harvesting - pick up mastitis, teat spray, notify owner of any concerns, operate milking equipment as per instructions
Plant cleaning and hygiene control - follow instructions for plant wash
Set break fences and feed out as directed, feed out silage as directed
Tractor, Quad Bike, machinery - operate all machinery as instructed, wear safety helmet on bike,
Main job is getting cows in morning and afternoons to the milking shed. Milking the cows, cleaning the plant and locking the cows away.
Due to the small/old shed milking takes a while and will be the main task on the farm through to the end of the season. Feeding young stock herd also daily job.
Must be drug free, smoke free in the shed, reference required. Outside dog ok, we have chickens, bunnies, horses on farm so must be pet friendly.
