M and G Askin Family Trust own a large dairy farming operation in Mid Canterbury. The 300ha
irrigated farm will milk approx. 1,100 cows in 2024. The farm has been developed to a high
standard and is located at Ealing, approx. 20 minutes south of Ashburton.
The farm is a family business with keen interests to improve productivity and quality of all
aspects of the farming operation. The 54-bale rotary shed with Protract, in-shed feeding, ACR’s,
auto drafting and auto teat wand is centralised over a large irrigated dairy platform with quality
lanes, fencing and stock water.
The irrigation system is made up of mainly pivots with some k-line and rotorainer runs.
Management collars maybe on the horizon for the coming season. Wintering and calf rearing is
made easy with a neighbouring runoff.
The family farm system offers a range of duties and strives for long term staff retention. Our contract milking company has a really great opportunity for supporting someone to be a part of the daily operations of the farm.
