The Location and the Farm!
Located 10 minutes from Glenavy, 20 minutes from Waimate, 25 minutes from Oamaru and 45 minutes from Timaru. There is a very good primary school located at Glenavy with the school bus at the mailbox. Secondary schooling has many options with buses to Waimate and Oamaru from the farm boundary. We are situated very close to the Waitaki River for fishing, an hour from 3 excellent lakes for boating and have many hunting opportunities on our doorstep. The total dairy farm platform is 404ha, with a 60 Bail read rotary with Protrack, auto drafting, barley and PK in shed feeding, ACR's and automatic teatspray. Irrigation is Border dyke, K-line, Rotor Rainer and Center Pivot. Effluent has just been upgraded to a Pod system. There are excellent Calf rearing facilities including a near new 10 Bay Calf shed.
The cows are wintered on two lease blocks over winter on either fodder beet or kale.
The roster is yet to be finalized as we would like all our staff to have input into it. We have run 7,2 7,2 7,3 in the past. We have also ran different staff on different rosters.
