This farm is well designed and well set up with a centrally located modern 36 ASHB shed with an automatic drafting system. The contour is 60 percent flat with good infrastructure and equipment which is all in top condition.
The soils are mostly Mairoa Ash. Production over the last 3 years has averaged 157,000 kgms and ranged between 155-161k kgms. We are well on track to achieve that again this season.
We are looking for someone who is highly skilled in pasture and production management as we operate a low cost system 2 farm growing maize and grass silage on farm and on the adjacent run-off. All cows are wintered on farm. OAD milking is used strategically for the young cows and during the collostrum period.
We use a farm consultant to help set up each seasons feed budget, condition score the herd and generally help us set and achieve farm targets.
