Woodcote Farms Limited

  • Te Awamutu, New Zealand

The farm is 172 ha. The shed is a 50 bale rotary with milk meters so you can see what each cow is producing. Autumn Calving Herd (Mar-May) – so the busy calving is usually during better weather. We operate with one milking herd to try to streamline farm efficiencies. The milking routine - cups on is done by one person with another getting herd in, changing gates, and feeding out on feed pad. We are a busy farm with an interest in doing a lot of work ourselves rather then contractors. Modern tractors and facilities. We take pride in the farm and its appearance so you can be proud of where you work and live. Maize grown on farm. Holstein Friesian Herd - Woodcote is herd name - we have some of our better cows with sons in the LIC and CRV bull teams. We have done IVF and Embryo work over the years and have had an interest in our herd genetics. We have a great grazier and our heifers have come back over 600kgs this year. We aim for 625 kg ms per cow and have been doing this over the past 5 seasons. 4 Staff over Calving -and while feeding calves. Then we drop back to 3 staff.
