The farm located in Paterangi is small but efficient, milking 190 quiet and well bred friesian X kiwicross cows through an 18 aside shed, we aim to profitably produce 90-100,000kgMS annually off a flat to rolling 60 effective hectares. The farm runs a system 3/4 with in shed feeding and summer cropping plus the use of grass and maize silage as required. The key focus for the farm is attention to detail to achieve high per cow production with emphasis on milk quality (grade free for 5 years), low somatic cell count (top 10 across Fonterra), low empty rates (6%) and a zero to low animal death rate.
