We are looking for an experienced farm worker (12+ months) to work as Herd Manager on a 900-cow farm in Ruatangata West, just 21 minutes from Whangarei. The farm has autumn (550 cows) and spring (350 cows) calving, milking through a 50 Bail Rotary and 22 Aside Herringbone shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking and monitoring milk quality, - stock handling and feeding (feed mgt), - fencing, weed control, - calving, calf rearing, - shed maintenance & preparation, - tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage - monitoring, recording and maintaining animal health - and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30, with an average of 40 and a maximum of 50. This farm is a 280ha 600cow spring calving dairy farm, 50 rotary cowshed, herd home, running system 3. Our business also runs a 150ha 300cow spring calving dairy farm, herringbone cowshed, system 2 Dairy farms are 10mins apart.
