You will not be required to milk cows daily but you must be able to step-in to milk if someone is on leave or days off. You will be required to get cows in daily. We are looking for an experienced farm worker (2+ years) to work as Herd Manager on an 1100 cow farm in the Murchison area, milking through a 60 Bail Rotary shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking and monitoring milk quality, - training junior staff, - stock handling and feeding (feed mgt), - fencing, weed control, - calving, calf rearing, - shed maintenance & preparation, - tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage - monitoring, recording and maintaining animal health - and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 50. An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, motivated dairy person to manage our 1100 cow dairy herd at Matakitaki Station in the Murchison District.  Responsibilities would include managing the daily routine in the cowshed, including milking staff, attending to animal health issues, grazing management of the herd. Also included would be helping with selection of cows for mating and ensuring accurate records are kept for animal health and wellbeing.  The successful candidate would need to be a good team player, self-motivated and thrive in an isolated environment.
