Dairy Herd Manager required. The position involves supporting the Farm Managers in achieving the farm’s production and profit goals through assisting with the day-to-day operation of the farm, and to follow good animal health and welfare, and environmental practices. Previous experience on a dairy farm, driving two wheelers and tractors is a required, training will be provided for specific farm operational procedures. Class 1 – Car Drivers licence necessary. We're seeking a Farm Assistant for this season for a 600-cow farm with a 40-aside herringbone shed in the Ashburton district. About the Role Reporting to the Farm Manager and Herd Manager, you'll be responsible for helping with the day-to-day milking and herd feeding, as well as with general farm work and maintenance. You'll help carry out milking and teat spraying, ensuring it's efficient and stress-free for people and animals and helping ensure only milk of the finest quality is presented for collection. Other duties you'll have include: feeding out and setting up break fences, assisting with pasture renovation and crop establishment, and cleaning and maintaining the farm dairy, plant, equipment, yards and bail area.  A day's training with Agri Training is provided for the right applicant.
