Description : We are seeking a farm assistant to join our team, which currently consists of 1.5 staff members, to assist with a herd of 300 cows in a 30-aside herringbone shed. The responsibilities for this position include herding cows, milking, fence setup, and weed spraying. Experience with tractor operation, quad bikes, or two-wheelers would be beneficial. Requirements: Candidates should possess a strong affinity for animals and demonstrate excellent stockmanship. Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate two or more years experience on an industrial dairy operation, doing similar work, or be able to demonstrate a relevant formal qualification at Level 4 or higher on the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF). Releif milker required for the 26/27 due to current reliever unable to continue on.  350 cows, Inshed feeding, alflex collars and automatic drafting. Flat to rolling country.  The relief milker will be required for 3-4 days a week from the 1st of September until the 31st of May 2027.  Accommodation can be provided at $250 pw, deducted from wages (power and internet included) 3 bedroom warm home, new carpet, garage and a fully fenced section. Farm is located in ohakune, friendly quiet cows. No experience needed, and extra work can be available during calving and busy periods.  This is fixed term only for one season. No over seas applicants please.

The farm is flat and productive. We are looking for someone with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. An ability to drive 2 wheelers, 4 wheelers, side by side and tractors necessary.  Spring calving. Successful applicants needs to be confident with all areas of day to day operations on the farm, be confident to ask questions if unsure, be reliable and drug free.
