Windley Lands LTD is looking for a new team member to join 2 other people in the day to day running of our runoff block. Located 15kms out of Mossburn  Windley is a large scale operation with flat/rolling and some steep land that deals with calves, heifers, bulls and dry cows.  You will be working along side the farm manager and 2IC to provide the best environment for animals to thrive for the future.  Job entails  Shifting stock - temporary fences Wintering- winding up and setting fences, tractor driving etc. Yard work - Drenching, weighing, loading and unloading stock. Animal health, treating and recording. Tractor driving - Feeding silage, loading unloading bales. We provide a 2 bedroom cottage, heat pump, double glazed windows. Understands and takes responsibility for daily tasks such as running of the dairy, effluent management and feeding. Completes tasks with minimal supervision and can supervise and train other staff. Looks for opportunities to work more effectively and efficiently to improve the business.   Duties include but not limited to Milking: Manages an efficient and hygienic milking routine Animals: Manages safe handling of animals, records, reports and treat, any health issue   Feed: Controls weeds. Sets break fences and feeds out as directed. Environment: Assists with nutrients, effluent and water management People: Manages junior farm staff. We are looking for a farm assistant to help cover milkings and other farm duties. We run 680 cows through a 54 bale rotary. We also have another property which milks 400 cows through a 40 aside herringbone. Ideally looking for someone who would can  milk in rotary and herringbone sheds. Tractor driving ability would be a bonus but not essential.

We lease two farms in Southland, the larger being located at Redan where most of the stock work is required and another in Winton as well as the family farm in Woodlands that we don’t handle the day to day operations of but work in closely with and where most of the engineering related tasks are carried out. We like to do most farm related tasks in house and to a high standard avoiding out sourcing work where possible. This includes servicing and maintenance of farm machinery. Due to an increased workload we are looking for a skilled individual to step in for some regular part time work so that we can continue to farm at a high standard.
