We are a large-scale dairy farm just outside of Mossburn, Northern Southland.  We are looking for 2 calf rearers to join our team for the upcoming season starting 25th of July and finishing end of September / early October (exact dates are negotiable). This job would ideally suit a couple or 2 friends. Roster is 6/1 or 6/2 depending on the time of the season.  Ideally some experience of caring for animals or working on a farm is preferred but not essential. The key attributes we are looking for is stamina and grit, a great attitude to work, easy to get along with, happy to get their hands dirty (literally), patience, awareness of health and safety, genuine care and consideration for animals and a sense of humour. Conversational English is also required. We use large equipment so you will need to learn how to drive 4 wheelers, a large truck, tow trailers and operate pumps. We have a full-time Dairy Farm Assistant role available on our 1100 cow dairy farm 5km from Mossburn, Northern Southland.    This is a permanent position with a minimum of 30 hours of work a week guaranteed. The key tasks and duties include: Milking Operations - milking cows hygienically and efficiently. Grazing - Putting up fences and following the weekly grazing plan. Animal Care - Assisting with feeding, watering and monitoring cows for any signs of animal health issues. Farm Maintenance - Helping with general farm maintenance of buildings and equipment. Calving - Assisting with calving mothers and caring for newborn calves including drafting, feeding and monitoring for health issues.
