Carries   out   milk   harvesting   tasks   safely, efficiently, and correctly, and assists in training new employees on correct   techniques. Assists   with   solving   milk   quality   problems,   as per instructions in farm policy manual. Helps farm assistants to understand factors that   affect   milk   quality,   hygienic   milking   and mastitis control procedures. Cleans and maintains the milking plant and farm   dairy   equipment,   and   carries   out   hygiene inspections as per instructed in on farm policy   manual. Moves and handles animals safely, identifies and diagnoses animal health issues, and assists   with   treatments   and   prevention   in   line with farm policy. We are looking for Herd manager to assist with running our 630 cow farm in Culverden. You main duties will be milking, cleaning cowshed, fencing, feeding calves, weed control, riding motorbike and other farm duties. One year of NZ dairy experience is a minimum and lvl4+ ITO qualification or similar Agriculture training is compulsory. Our candidate must be physically fit as manual work and heavy lifting may be required and be ready to wake up at 4am and work after 5pm if circumstance requires (with regular breaks). You also need to be ready to work weekends and holidays as required per your roster. Accommodation on farm provided so you need to have your own reliable transport due to the remote location of workplace. Weekly hours will be between 40-60 depending on part of the year. Pay is accommodation included. Sorry, no pets allowed.
