We are looking for an Assistant Farm Manager (2IC) to join our team on Mount Bee Dairies, located in Northern Southland 45–70 minutes from Te Anau, Gore, Invercargill, and Queenstown. With the possibility of taking over Management in 1 or 2 years for the right person.  We milk 630 cows through a 54-bale rotary with ACRs, auto teat spray, in-shed feeding. Our farm is 226 hectares of effective area. We winter cows on fodder beet and swedes ourselves on our additional Run off block of 55Ha, raise young stock on the farm until they reach 100kg before they go grazing. There is also the option for a partner to take part in calf rearing/relief milking. As 2IC, you will work in a team of three including myself as manager and relief staff when needed. We are on the lookout for two staff members to join our small team based 20 minutes out of invercargill in Southland My partner and I contract milk two farms two minutes apart milking 420 spring calving friesian cows on each farm. We are looking for a 2ic and a farm assistant for the upcoming season starting June the 1st. Though we would be happy for someone to start earlier than this. Both farms have excellent infrastructure and machinery including a 40 aside herring-bone and 50 bail rotary sheds with acrs, in shed feeding and automated wash and drafting systems. Both farms also utilise wintering barns/feed pads and are maintained to a very high standard. We are very passionate about our stock and strive for the best results. We set high standards of animal health, dairy hygiene and general farm tidiness. Assistant Manager wanted to assist management to run a 750 cow farm operation near Balfour. The farm is a 320 hectare effective with a 60 bail rotary platform with in-shed feeding, automatic teat spray, auto draft with cow wearing collar to aid with animal health and mating.  The successful applicant will have a proven tract record in pasture management, animal health, staff management and at least 3 years dairy farming experience in New Zealand.

What we are looking for Working closely with the Farm Manager, you will assist in the day-to-day running of a family run dairy platform. This is a hands on role requiring strong leadership skills and the ability to manage daily farm operations when required. Expectations Minimum 4 years New Zealand dairy farming experience, including previous Herd Manager or Assistant Manager roles. The successful applicant will have strong animal health and stock handling skills, be an effective communicator and team player and is confident with tractor work, feeding out, and fencing. Experience in using modern dairy technology including Protrack/Minda, in shed feeding systems, auto drafting, Allflex collars, and milk meters is preferred
