Our herd manager of five years has chosen to retire from dairy farming so we have a position available.
The Farm: 750 cows; 54 bail rotary with cup removers and Protrack; three staff full time (six over calving) plus relievers as required; running a 5 on, 2 off roster (6 on, 1 off for calving), located 5 minutes from Clydevale, 35 minutes from Gore and 25 minutes from Balclutha.
Responsibilities include:
· Regular rostered milking
· Completing farm drives
· Feed planning with guidance
· Treating lame and penicillin cows
· Fence repairs and power maintenance
· There is the possibility of some tractor work depending on experience
This is an ideal role for a herd manager with proven experience in New Zealand dairy farm systems. You will be a clean and tidy person who is self-motivated and capable of organising their own day to day schedule. You will also be a team player who gets on well with people and enjoys working with animals. We will ask that all applications come with a CV and references from previous employers. We contract milk 750 cows 5 minutes from Clydevale with a team of three full time staff plus relief milkers as required. The shed is a 54 bail rotary with in-shed feeding, cup removers, auto teat spray and Pro-track drafting.
To offer our people a good work/ life balance we run a 5 days on, 2 days off roster outside calving (which is 6 days on, 1 day off).
