Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Herd Manager to join a progressive dairy farming operation managing an 800-cow dairy herd milked through two dairy sheds.
Farm Details
- 800 cows
- 20 Aside Herringbone Shed
- 36 Aside Herringbone Shed
- Roster: 11 days on, 3 days off
- Guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week
- On-farm accommodation available and preferred due to the responsibilities of the role
Key Responsibilities
- Milking and dairy shed operations
- Animal health monitoring and treatments
- Heat detection and mating management
- Pasture and feed allocation
- Calving and young stock management
- Farm maintenance and machinery operation
- Record keeping and compliance requirements
- Maintaining a high standard of shed hygiene and farm presentation
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 2 years dairy farming experience
- Strong animal husbandry skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Full New Zealand driver's licence
Employment Requirements
- You must have a clear criminal record
- You must be drug-free
- Regular workplace drug testing is conducted
- No dogs permitted on farm due to farm policy
- We would prefer the successful applicant to reside on farm due to the responsibilities associated with the role
Remuneration
- Salary: $81,000 - $83,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week
