An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and commercially minded 50:50 Sharemilker to partner with the owner of Hauturu Farm Limited, a well-developed dairy operation located at Otaua.

The successful applicant will bring the experience, energy and business capability needed to operate a productive dairy business while building a positive, respectful and transparent working relationship with the farm owner and wider team.

The Farm

Hauturu Farm Limited comprises 190 effective hectares of mixed-contour land (40ha of flats, 150ha of rolling) and operates a System 3 farming model.  The farm supplies to Fonterra and is currently milking approximately 480 cows, on target to reach 230,000 kgMS for the 2026/27 season.  Incoming Sharemilker will bring 500 spring calving friesen cows.

The farm owner is committed to the continued development of the property, with a focus on improving pastures and sustainably increasing production.  Future initiatives of exploring other additional improvements. 

The incoming Sharemilker will be expected to contribute commercial insight and practical thinking to these discussions, while maintaining strong day-to-day operational performance.  The farm has also benefited from significant investment in native planting.  Respect for these plantings and responsible environmental management are essential.

Farm infrastructure includes:

• 36-aside herringbone cowshed
• Brand-new in-shed feeding system with two silos
• New 600-square-metre implement shed with lock-up facilities
• Redpath 15-bay calf shelter
• Effluent pond with a new sump and bunker
• Bulk-feed bunker
• R2’s are grazed off with grazier

The current staffing structure consists of the Sharemilker, two full-time employees and part-time calf-rearing support.

About You

We are seeking an experienced dairy operator who can demonstrate:

• Proven experience in a comparable dairy farming or sharemilking position
• Strong business and financial management capability
• High personal integrity and transparent communication
• Energy, resilience and a practical “can-do” attitude
• Sound pasture, feed, herd and production management skills
• The ability to lead, communicate with and retain farm staff
• A personable and respectful approach when working with employees, the farm owner and rural professionals
• A responsible approach to environmental management and farm sustainability
• Pride in maintaining the farm and infrastructure
• The capacity to assess opportunities and make commercially sound decisions

Location and Housing

1x Four-bedroom home, 1x three-bedroom home and a tiny home are available as on-farm accommodation.

Hauturu Farm is located approximately four kilometres from Otaua and 11 kilometres from Waiuku. Pukekohe is approximately 25 minutes away, providing convenient access to services, schooling and recreational facilities.
