Herd Manager opportunity near Edendale (would suit a couple)

Job Description

After eight years with a stable team, we are looking for our next reliable, self-motivated team member to join us in a Herd Manager role near Edendale. This position would suit someone who communicates well, takes responsibility, and can work confidently without close supervision.

Part-time work also available for a partner.

Applicants must currently be working in New Zealand and be able to provide current references. The employers are accredited by Immigration New Zealand.

 

What We Are Looking For

  •    Experience: At least three seasons’ experience in New Zealand, with the ability to follow a plan, run milking routine and machinery confidently, and work well in a team.
  •    Attitude: Responsible, respectful, punctual, coachable, self-motivated, and a good communicator.
  •    Attention to detail: Tidy, committed to keep the plant clean, and maintaining machinery well.
  •    Stockmanship: Gentle with cows, able to help maintain low SCC, proactive in identifying and treating lameness and mastitis, and has a keen eye for cows and pasture.

The Farm 

The farm covers 200 ha of flat to rolling contour. It is well developed and performing at a high level.

The property has a good standard of regrassing and facilities. Our aim is to fully feed cows year-round and achieve milk production of 540 kgMS/cow.

The farm is in a convenient location, with easy access to the highway and a school bus route. Invercargill is approximately 25 minutes away.

 

Cowshed

50-bale rotary cowshed with ACRs, ProTrack, and automatic teat sprayer.
