We are seeking an experienced, motivated, honest, and reliable Herd Manager to join our dairy farming operation. This position involves a high level of responsibility in the day-to-day management of a 470-cow herd across a 160-hectare property, milking through a 40-aside herringbone shed.
The successful candidate will work closely with the sharemilker and the other experienced team member, take a proactive role in decision-making, planning, and implementation of on-farm operations.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Feeding management, pasture utilization and allocation
Fencing, weed control, and general farm maintenance
Operation, care, and maintenance of farm machinery and equipment
Planning and coordination with the sharemilker (strong communication and organisational skills are essential)
Accurate record keeping, including animal health, treatments, and farm compliance
Supporting and guiding junior staff when required
Other general farm management duties as required
The farm is part of a larger dairy farming business that includes an additional dairy unit located across the road. Staff may be required to work across both farms, operating as one team when necessary.
Requirements:
Proven previous experience in dairy farming is essential
Demonstrated ability to take responsibility and work independently
Strong communication and leadership skills
A proactive approach to problem-solving and farm management

8 days on / 2 days off

The farm policy has a strong focus on pasture management, maximising grass growth. 40 aside herringbone shed with in shed meal feeder. Production target 175000 kgMS. 55 ha support block located 3 km away from dairy farm.
