Dairy Support Runoff Manager

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven individual with strong initiative who can work well independently and can manage wintering team. This run-off property provides vital dairy support for two dairy farms. You will oversee the day-to-day operations of the property while maintaining clear communication with the farm owner, and two tractor drivers, at times.

What we are looking for:

  • Previous dairy farming or run-off or dairy support experience would be an advantage.
  • Strong stockmanship and pasture management skills
  • Competent tractor and machinery operation
  • Good communication and organisation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of the dairy team
  • A full NZ drivers licence
  • Currently hold New Zealand citizenship 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing young stock, dry cows and wintering dairy stock - ensuring they meet target weights and condition
  • Feed budgeting and pasture management
  • Animal health and welfare
  • Machinery and property maintenance (including fencing and weed control)
  • Crop establishment and grazing management
  • Tractor work and feeding out
  • Maintaining accurate farm records
  • Communication with various people & businesses
  • Practising responsible health and safety
