We have an exciting opportunity for Herd Managers. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of dairy farming experience or hold a Level 4 or higher qualification in a relevant agricultural field to join a 580 cow farm in Rongotea, just 20 minutes from Palmerston North, milking through a 50 bale rotary shed with inshed feeding system and a feed pad system. ( System 5 Farm)
You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing, including:
- Twice a day milking and monitoring milk quality,
- Fencing, weed control
- Assist with calving, calf rearing
- Shed maintenance & preparation
- Tractor operation for feeding out and mowing
- Training junior staff if required,
- Stock handling and feeding (feed mgt)
- Monitoring, recording and maintaining animal health
- Mating management
and other general farm duties.
A minimum of 30 hours per week is guaranteed.
The schedule can vary, but typically you’ll be working 4.00 am–5:00 pm with meal and rest breaks.
Roster: 6 days on, 1 day off.
Salary is up to $72,800 per annum, subject to experience.
