Tipako Farms Limited is a long-established family farming business located in Karaka/Waiau Pa area, south of Auckland.  With more than 60 years of family ownership, the farm is built on strong family values, a commitment to quality milk production, and a genuine passion for sustainable farming.  Due to unforeseen circumstances, an exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced and motivated Contract Milker to join the team from 1st December 2026.

This is a chance to take responsibility for a well-established 260 autumn-calving Friesian herd, operating on a productive farming platform comprising approximately 130 hectares, including an adjoining lease block.  The farm milks through a 16-aside herringbone cowshed, with production targeting 110,000kgMS Plus.

The successful applicant will take ownership of the day-to-day management of the herd and farm operation.  Working alongside supportive farm owners, you will be responsible for achieving high standards in animal health, milk quality, pasture management, and overall farm performance.  Monthly meetings with a farm consultant will provide an excellent opportunity for ongoing development and business planning.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing all aspects of herd health, welfare, and production
• Pasture monitoring and feed allocation
• Feed management, including maize, PKE, and grass silage systems
• Milking operations and milk quality management
• Mating management, including artificial insemination and bull programmes
• Staff coordination and leadership
• Maintaining accurate farm records and compliance requirements
• Ensuring a safe and efficient farming environment

The owners are seeking someone who is highly self-managed, organised, and capable of making sound decisions independently.  A strong understanding of pasture utilisation, animal health, and dairy farm systems is essential.  The ideal candidate will be proactive, take pride in their work, and be committed to achieving excellent results for both the herd and business.
