We are looking for 1 dairy Herd Manager to join the team on our Split calving Dairy Farm milking 1850 cows in Temuka.
*Job description:
General farm duties will include but are not limited to:
-Twice a day Milking: Morning and afternoon milking. Assists in efficient and hygienic milking routine. Start times are 3:30am and 1.30pm daily.
-Feed: Controls weeds. Set up break fences. Assist with pasture management as directed by Farm Manager.
-Animals: Assists in the safe handling of animals, reports any health and welfare issues as per farm policy. - Team responsibilities: Contribute to an effective team working environment. Works well with others, building a strong team culture.
-Environment: Assists with effluent and water management as directed by farm policy.
-Health, safety: Comply with farm Health and Safety policies and procedures. Involved in building a health, safety and wellbeing culture.
*In order to be successful applicants must have the following requirements:
• Applicants must have either:
2-years farming experience on a relevant role or
A qualification equivalent to a level 4 or more on the New Zealand Qualification Authority (NZQA).
• Applicants must have at least 1 New Zealand drying off experience.
• Applicants must have at least 1 New Zealand Automn calving experience.
• Applicants must have at least 1 New Zealand Spring calving experience.
• Applicants must have at least 9 months experience on a Split dairy farm operation
• Applicants must be physically fit.
• Must be available for an in-person interview.
• Successful applicant will need to live on farm.
• Applicants must be able to pass a random drug test and have a clear police history.
• Applicants must provide an updated and current CV.
• Applicants must provide verifiable references of previous employment history.
