We are seeking a motivated and experienced Runoff Farm Manager to lead the day-to-day management of our well-maintained runoff farm, located just 15 minutes southwest of Oamaru.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in livestock, pasture, and property management and wants to be part of a progressive farming business focused on achieving outstanding results.
About the Role
You will be responsible for the overall management of the runoff property, working closely with the dairy farm management team to ensure stock are well cared for and feed resources are utilized efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing young stock, dry cows, and wintering stock.
- Feed budgeting and pasture management.
- Crop establishment and grazing management.
- Animal health and welfare.
- Irrigation operation and maintenance (where applicable).
- Tractor work, feeding out, cultivation, and general farm maintenance.
- Fencing, weed control, and property presentation.
- Maintaining accurate farm records.
- Working alongside the dairy team to achieve business goals.
- Promoting a strong health and safety culture.
What We're Looking For
The successful applicant will have:
- Previous experience managing a runoff or dairy support property.
- Excellent stockmanship and pasture management skills.
- Strong tractor and machinery operating experience.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- A positive attitude with a high standard of workmanship.
- A full New Zealand driver's license.
- Experience with farm technology (e.g. Halter, MINDA, Hawkeye or similar) is an advantage.
