Dairy Farm Manager / Contract Milker

Waikato | Small Herd Dairy Farm

An opportunity is becoming available for an experienced Dairy Farm Manager or Contract Milker to join a progressive farming business operating a well-established small herd dairy farm in the Waikato.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in high-quality farming, has excellent stockmanship, strong attention to detail, and enjoys working as part of a professional management team.

The Role

The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the farming operation, including:

  • Animal health and welfare.
  • Calving and young stock management.
  • Pasture and feed management.
  • Staff leadership where required.
  • Accurate herd recording and farm administration.
  • Farm maintenance and presentation.
  • Health and Safety management.
  • Working alongside senior management to achieve production, financial and operational objectives.

About You

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Proven dairy management or contract milking experience.
  • Excellent stockmanship and pasture management skills.
  • Strong organisational and communication abilities.
  • Experience with herd recording systems such as MINDA.
  • A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently.
  • High personal standards, integrity and accountability.
  • A commitment to accurate record keeping, clear communication, and a collaborative approach to working with management, veterinarians, contractors and other external stakeholders.
  • A current New Zealand driver's licence and the legal right to work in New Zealand.
