Harlaw Downs Ltd is seeking a reliable, motivated team member with a positive attitude to join our team as a Herd Manager on our progressive dairy farm milking approximately 800-850 cows in Reporoa.
The successful applicant will assist with the day-to-day management of the farm, including milking, animal health and welfare, feeding, calving, mating, pasture management, farm maintenance, record keeping and supervising staff when required. The role also involves operating and maintaining farm vehicles and machinery, maintaining a clean and hygienic dairy, and ensuring compliance with health and safety, environmental and animal welfare standards.
Remuneration
- $31.00–$36.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
- Permanent, full-time position.
- Minimum guaranteed 40 hours per week (additional hours during peak seasons).
- Shared accommodation is available in a three-bedroom farmhouse on the property.
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of 2 years' full-time dairy farming experience.
- Experience with milking, stock handling and animal health.
- The ability to operate tractors and general farm machinery safely.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to animal welfare, environmental stewardship and workplace health and safety.
- A current full New Zealand driver's licence (or equivalent).
- Be drug free and able to pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
- Be of good character with no relevant criminal convictions.
