2 Herd Managers – Dairy Farm (Tirau, Waikato)

STZ Farming Limited is seeking a motivated Herd Managers to join our progressive dairy farming business located near Tirau, Waikato.

Our System 4 farm milks approximately 650 cows through a 40-aside herringbone shed on 200 hectares. We use modern equipment, well-established farm systems, and are committed to high standards of animal welfare and farm performance.

About the Role

The Herd Manager will work alongside the contractor and be responsible for managing one herd and one side of the farm. The successful applicant must be capable of carrying out day-to-day farm operations with minimal supervision and assisting with the efficient operation of the farm.

Key Responsibilities

• Milking and dairy shed operations
• Animal health monitoring and livestock care
• Calving assistance and calf rearing
• Feeding and pasture management
• Tractor and farm machinery operation
• Farm maintenance and fencing
• Farm record keeping
• Maintaining milk quality and hygiene standards
• Supporting the Farm Manager and supervising staff when required

Minimum Requirements

• At least 2 years’ relevant dairy farming or livestock farming experience or Agriculture level 4 qualification
• Practical experience with animal husbandry and farm machinery
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions
• Strong employment references
• Restricted or Full Driver Licence
• Must pass pre-employment drug testing
• Clean criminal history
