Fairfax Stonehouse Farm Ltd require a Herd Manager within an established owner operated dairy farming business, situated at Dunsandel, 35 minutes drive south of Christchurch, commencing on approximately 12th July 2026, working on our 950 cow dairy farm.
We require a person who is reliable & has a good work history. The focus of the role is to support the Farm Owners and team on the farm to assist with daily operational tasks as directed, feeding of cows on pasture and crop, running of the dairy shed including milking and handling of cows, ability to administer & record animal health treatments, assisting the team with calving management and the annual reproduction programme, assisting with movement of effluent and irrigation, using and maintaining general farm vehicles & equipment including tractors and feed out wagons, carry out general farm maintenance, assisting with feeding of calves and following health, safety and wellbeing procedures.
We require a person who has the ability to work well within a team & help achieve getting the basics right everyday on the farm. The person must have the ability and experience to complete tasks with minimal supervision and assist with training other less experienced team members. The role provides a good opportunity for a person with previous dairy farming experience to gain further dairy farming experience with ongoing support and training provided.
