Job Description- Herd Manager
We are looking for a reliable hardworking person to join us on our dairy farm only a few minutes out of Morrinsville, Waikato Region. We milk a total of 280 cows through a 19 aside herringbone shed, with automatic cup removers.
The job position available is Herd Manager.
Your main duties will be Milking cows, tractor operating and feeding out on a feed pad, weed and pasture control, diagnosing and treating sick cows i.e mastitis, lame & milk fever, during mating you will be required to draft 'On heat' cows out for mating as well as record keeping in these areas. You will be responsible for helping in training junior staff, running and managing the milking shed, be confident in Pasture management e.g. Pre and post grazing covers, be physically fit and able to carry these tasks daily. You will be a solid ‘all-rounder’ and comfortable working on your own as well as leading other staff.
We require at least 2 years of relevant NZ dairy farming experience, that includes working through calving and mating, where you will be involved in all aspects of running a dairy farm including treating illness, feed management, calving cows and identifying cows on heat.
We require someone with a clean police record and no drug history. A clean full driver's license is also required. Guaranteed 40hrs work per week.
