Dairy Farm Manager–Colhaven Ltd | Hamua, Tararua District

The Moore family are seeking a capable and motivated Dairy Farm Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of their well-established dairy farm,Colhaven Ltd, located in Hamua–within 15 minutes of Pahiatua and Eketahuna.

This role offers the opportunity to take primary responsibility for daily farm performance, while working alongside supportive owners on system direction, planning, and seasonal decisions

The Role

You will lead the day-to-day management of the farm, including:

Herd management and animal health

Pasture and feed planning

Assist with wintering duties, stock movements and management on support blocks

Staff supervision (1 full-time, 1 part-time)

Milking and shed management

All general farm duties

Calving starts 1 August 2026

The Farm

  • 110ha effective dairy platform (120ha total)
  • Peak milk: 320 Friesian cows
  • Production: up to 142,000 kgMS
  • Grade Free for 12+ years
  • 30-aside herringbone shed (approx. 2.5-hour milking)
  • Milking twice daily
  • Max walking distance: 1.2kmThe farm is well-supported by multiple nearby support blocks used for wintering and youngstock.

Two herd homes

Effluent system with storage and travelling irrigator

Reliable machinery (tractors, mixer wagon, bikes, side-by-side)
