The Role

As Division Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational effectiveness of our Harvest and Livestock Grazing Division. You will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with other senior leaders to achieve business goals. Your mission will be to ensure optimal productivity, profitability, and sustainability across all areas of the division.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide inspirational leadership and management to a diverse team of farm managers, technical specialists, and seasonal staff.
• Develop and implement effective strategies for crop harvest and livestock grazing operations, aligning with the latest industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Drive operational excellence by monitoring KPIs, forecasting production, and identifying areas for process improvement.
• Manage division budgets, financial reporting, and resource allocation to ensure profitability and responsible expenditure.
• Oversee the planning and execution of all harvest activities, including crop scheduling, machinery utilisation, and logistics coordination.
• Supervise livestock grazing operations, focusing on animal health, welfare, feed planning, and pasture management.
• Champion innovation by evaluating and adopting new technologies and sustainable practices in farming and livestock management.
• Foster a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders including suppliers, contractors, clients, regulatory bodies, and local communities
• Lead, motivate, and mentor your team, nurturing talent and driving professional development.
• Ensure accurate and timely record-keeping for compliance, audit, and reporting purposes.

About You

We are looking for an energetic and proactive leader with a passion for New Zealand agriculture. You will possess a unique blend of practical farming expertise and strategic management acumen, along with a drive for continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

• A New Zealand Qualification Framework level four in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Farm Management, or a related field; or
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a senior management role within the agricultural sector, preferably with exposure to both cropping and livestock operations.
• Proven experience leading and motivating large teams in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
• Sound knowledge of New Zealand’s agricultural regulations, food safety requirements, and environmental compliance.
• Demonstrated financial acumen, with experience in managing division budgets and delivering targets.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on innovation and efficiency.
• Proficient in the use of farm management software and digital tools.
• A commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing for all team members.
• A valid New Zealand driver’s licence.
